Mandatory Privacy Policy

I am putting this here because I am an actual website professional, so I know that a privacy policy is required. I am not required to take it seriously.

If you sue me I will plead guilty and request the death penalty. My only legacy will be unpaid student loans, so I assure you that it would not be worth it. I literally own less than nothing.

I am not making any extraordinary efforts to be a criminal... but I am making an effort to appear legit, so I copied this formal sounding Privacy Policy from somewhere and then authenticated it by adding what I think it really means.

Everything you read after this sentence will be a total fucking waste of time. Actually, everything you read anywhere here is a waste of time. You should already know that.

My website address is: https://tripwreck.com and this website is called TripWreck.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on this website the internet gods collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser "user agent string" to supposedly help with spam detection. It doesn't seem to work very well, but never-the-less, I control none of this. I could care less about your IP address.

Media

If you upload images to the website (please do not do this) avoid uploading images with embedded location data included. Bad guys might download and extract location data from images on this website and use this to identify that you vacationed at Yellowstone National Park last summer. This information could be very valuable for some reason, although I can't imagine why.

I also don't want you to upload photos to my website because that would be weird and I'm probably not interested.

Cookies

Look, I don't know how Ghost works, but let me assure you that I am not collecting cookie data and I don't control cookies. I wouldn't know how to use an internet cookie for literally any purpose. Your cookie data is worthless to me, personally.

You should look into the Ghost Privacy Policy if you're concerned about any of this. I am not a super cool hacker. My posts should make it clear that I am a deeply troubled and unserious person. I am not capable of concocting any nefarious plans using cookies. It's just beyond my skillset.

Embedded Content

Articles on this site may include embedded content. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you visited those other websites. So far, I've embedded Trip Advisor links, a Neeto Form and I may even add a Youtube video someday. You are way more likely to have visited these sites than you are to be visiting mine anyway.

Now I will waste my time explaining that social media is absolutely spying on you. If you see instagram, facebook, X or any social media links, you are 100% being tracked. Sorry if that comes as a surprise to you, but I am not responsible for that, either.

All of the websites above may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with content or come to your house and steal your first born child. I will not do that, and not just because I hate children.

I do not use google analytics because I try to respect your privacy and I'm doing my best to not let evil corporations spy on us. Google probably followed you here anyway, but I'm not trying to help them.

Retaining Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and it's metadata are retained indefinitely, I guess. This is so "we" can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. LOL

For users that register, "we" store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Your Rights

Look, this is supposed to say something about how you can demand that I erase your personal data, but I really don't know how to do that. I'm not storing a cache of data on anyone, okay? I'm pretty much a narcissist anyway and I barely care about my own personal data.

But if you need something, go ahead and contact me. I can click "delete" on your profile and tell you it's gone... but let's be real, this is a platform (ghost) that I have no control over.

I have no idea where data goes when I click delete. Nobody does. The internet is a black hole where all data is stored, harvested, sold and definitely read by robots. If you're concerned about your data you should probably just toss your phone into the ocean and disappear forever.

Where "we" send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. That is, they will be read by robots and judged. Personally, I will read your comments if you leave them. I may even respond to comments, but that is the extent of my plans for said comments.

I don't know what the internet has planned for any comments you may leave. I guess if you say something spicy you may get fired from you job in 8 years, but that's also not my fault and usually only happens with tweets. (I think.)

Contact information

You can contact me if you want to and ask me about any of this but I think I've been pretty open about the fact that I have no idea what is going on most of the time. So please don't contact me unless you're going to say something hilarious. I only accept criticism in joke format.
